A Levallois flake tool of Early Middle Palaeolithic date (c. 250,000 - 180,000 BC). It is sub-cordate in form. It is orangey-brown or 'toffee' coloured all over except for an area of damage to the centre of the ventral face and another area of probably damage on the right towards the distal end of the dorsal face, both of which are lighter in colour. The patination of the flake is an indicator of its age and also shows that it has been 'rolled', suggesting it has been in a high energy environment (such as a river) before its final deposition.
