Copper alloy bracket. A cast L-shaped object comprising a smaller decoratively moulded plate with paired bordered lobes and comma-shaped features on its outer edges, to fit with its back flush to a flat surface; and a larger [length 25.3mm] plain rectangular projection in two parts, the longer and narrower above with a bevelled end and separated from the shorter wider part by an integrally cast flange. This configuration would be apt to the insertion of a thin metal component between the upper projections, and perhaps to the insertion of the bevelled end into a similar groove. Perhaps…

Iron bracket. Probably cast iron ovoid ring of band width 11mmm and thickness 7.8mm with an ovoid plate at right angles to its hoop with a round and lightly countersunk aperture of diameter c.13mm, suggesting provision for secure attachment. An intermittently rectangular section may be the result of loss of metal to corrosion. This object may be a machinery fitting or a fragment of structural ironwork. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900. Width: 65.2mm, Height: 56.7mm, Thickness (at plate): 8.9mm, Weight: 56.56gms.

Copper alloy probable bracket, probably a machine fitting. Cast tapered oval ended strip of plano-convex section with a drilled and countersunk aperture of diameter 4.5mm at its wider end; the countersunk side of the hole is on the flat side. The object is bent to form a partial loop, possibly an original feature rather than damage, and is kinked again to form a second partial loop ending at a projecting angular lug. These features may suggest a function retaining other components. The countersunk hole also suggests a recent date. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1950. Length: 52.5mm…

a copper alloy fitting, possibly a lamp bracket of medieval or later date. It is a curved metal strip, rectangular in section, with a loop at one end and a single rivet hole at the other. The loop terminal has been formed by bending the strip back on itself and fixing with solder, forming a loop of oval shape, 26.31mm x 12.6mm. The object is 62.56mm in length and 6.91mm in width. The strip varies in thickness between 2.14mm for the loop, 3.9mm where the strip is soldered, and 2.47mm at the rivet-hole terminal. It weighs 11.95g. Its use as a lamp bracket is one possibility for this obj…
