A complete and pierced post-Medieval Scottish silver twenty pence piece of Charles I (1625-1649). Third Coinage, 1637-1642. Obverse: CAR D G SCOT ANG FR ET HIB R; Crowned bust left, XX (mark of value) behind. Reverse: IVSTITIA THRONVM FIRMAT; Crowned thistle. Diameter: 15.7mm. Weight: 0.76g. DA=12:7. The coin has been pierced with a circular hole, 2.0mm in diameter at 2 o' clock on the obverse. It has also been bent to form a 'love-token'. Compare with numbers 5581-5591 in 'Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands'.
