IARCH record for a fused hoard of coins and jewellery found in Colchester during excavations by Colchester Archaeological Trust. Full details are not yet available due to ongoing conservation work. The latest coins fully identified are denarii of Augustus but the hoard contains copper alloy coins thought to be Claudian in date. N. Pit F1 contained R-B pottery incl amphorae sherds dated mid- to late 1st century AD, CBM, iron nails, animal bone, & a group of five copper-alloy coins dated c AD 43-64. These consisted of an illegible as, an as of Agrippa minted under Caligula (AD 37-41), two copies of Claudius I asses (c AD 43-64) & a dupondius of Antonia minted under Claudius I (c AD 41-54).
