An incomplete early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) copper-alloy strap end of Thomas' Class A, Type 2. The plate is narrow and oval, expanding from the rear edge to a maximum width of 9mm before narrowing into a pointed zoomorphic terminal. The rear edge is split and incomplete having lost the facing side and the rear end, which has broken across a pair of rivet holes. The terminal has a well defined beast head, with concave sides to the snout and a well defined brow and long rounded ears behind.
