An incomplete Roman copper-alloy mount dating to circa AD 100-300. The lower half is crescentic (or pelta) with inverted rounded knops on each terminal, leading to a break. The reverse is concave with a copper allloy rivet projecting from the lower elements of the mount. The mount is in the moulded shape of a six-petalled flower, probably a rose. This includes six sub-triangular petals with domed outer surfaces, which have been further embelished by incised lines, all surrounding a central hexagonal cell. The mount is heavily worn. The reverse is undecorated, with a central annulet where an attachment spur or loop would have attached. They are slightly domed in cross section. These are joined by their narrow end either side of a small central collar giving the impression of an elongated 'bow tie'. The mount comprises an ovate plate, the edges of which are broken and worn, with a raised, central oval boss, decorated with a deep median groove. The reverse of the mount is concave behind the boss. A fragment of an Early Medieval copper alloy rectangular mount, c.AD 500-700. This is a fragment of a rectangular mount with raised zoomorphic decoration. The mount is sub-rectangular in plan with flat faces. The upper surface has a plain border, with an one- to three-stranded interlaced zoomorphic decoration in the form of at least one creature. The ends and sides are damaged and end in old breaks. Gilding survives on the upper surface. The reverse is flat and undecorated with little of the patina surviving.
