A complete mount in the form of a lion's head dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1600-1800). The mount is circular in plan with moulded relief decoration in the form of a lion's head surrounded by its mane. The reverse is uneven with a channel running its length that would have contained an iron pin or stud for which only traces of ferrous metal remans. The object has a grey patina. A lead figure head. The head, which includes normal facial features is also wearing a hat, likely a zucchetto. Protruding from the top of the head is a small suspension loop. The suspension loop and jaw of the head form a separate piece. While unable to be removed from the rest of the head, they are free moving which means the suspension loop can be moved up and down which in turn opens and closes the mouth of the figure. There is a faint orange patina visible on the zucchetto which may potentially be the remnants of paint. Further reddish pink paint is visible above the right ey…

Lead alloy possible mount fragment. A small cast plate, perhaps originally heart-shaped, with a central drilled hole of diameter 5.6mm; the hole is now open, perhaps due to the loss of the base of the putative heart.  Thickly patinated after that breakage. A neat capital letter L appears on one side of the plate, to the right, and might hint at the loss of the initial of a spouse or lover from the left of the heart. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1700 Width: 23.1mm, Height: 15.8mm, Thickness: 2.9mm, Weight: 4.65gms

An incomplete lead mount of medieval date (c.AD 1398-1550). Description: The mount is in the form of a six-armed, wavy star, four of which surive, the other two, being stubs. Each arm is sub-triangular in cross-section so that they are rasied at their centres. The reverse of the mount is flat. An incomplete post-medieval lead mount in the form of a dolphin, probably dating from AD 1700 - 1900. The dolphin is broadly S shaped, with a large head and tapering to the tail, the tip of which is missing on this example.
