An incomplete Medieval silver plated contemporary forgery of a groat of probably Edward III (1327-77) dating to c.1351-77.
A copper-alloy core is visible with traces of a green patina and the obverse appears to be of billon and is illegible. The reverse is slightly better quality silver and is marked as mint of London.
Diameter 26.5mm, thickness 0.8mm, weight 2g.

The obverse shows a laureate and cuirassed bust right. The legend reads GVLIELMVS TERTIVS. The reverse is of seated Britannia with right hand on knee. The coin is fairly worn and has an uneven surface patina, with visible wear on the edges of the coin. Spink 3556 (2003, p. 346)
