A  cast lead alloy shot/ball of medieval date, probably for use in a hand cannon or mounted gun from the 15th century (possibly linked the war of the roses,and the battle of Mortimers Cross some 2.5 miles away). The surface is abraded, probably from movement in the soil by farm machinery and as such it is unknown as to whether it has been fired or not. There are lead shot/balls of 23mm in diameter that have been recovered from both Bosworth and Towton battlefields and this is the documented size of many of the handguns used at the time by English garrisons…

An uncertain object of uncertain date - most probably made in the medieval or post medieval period (1200-1800). In form the artefact is similar to a thimble being a domed sheet of lead which has subsequently been crushed in the soil. The lower section of the flask and a small separate section of the neck of the vessel survive. The lower part has a rounded convex base that tapers slightly to form a waste at the mid point. A complete but damaged lead alloy pilgrim's ampulla of medieval date (c.AD 1350-1550). The body of the ampulla is circular with an elongated rectangular neck extending from one edge. One upper corner of the neck is bent backwards and although both suspension loops are present, one is flattened against the main body. Both surfaces of the main body are decorated. A complete but heavily abraded and corroded cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl of Medieval to Post Medieval date (1150 - 1650 AD), most probably Medieval (AD12300 -1600). The spindle whorl was originally broadly circular in plan and bi-convex in cross section. A central hole is present which has a diameter of approximately 11mm in diameter, Both faces of the whorl are decorated - although one face is poorly preserved. In plan the repair is broadly oval in shape and irregular in cross section; originally it would have been H shaped but it has been snapped across the mid-point and only a small projecting nub survives. It has a tapering square shaped hole through its mid point (4.5mm x 4.2mm) and has no sign of decoration, casting seam or casting spur. It is a light grey colour with a relatively thick surface patina. It is most likely to be a one ounce weight but could possibly be a counter / balance weight from a knife or dagger.
