An incomplete whittle tang iron knife, dating to the medieval period, c. 13th-14th century AD. The knife has a triangular shape, with whittle tang central on blade and a straight shoulder. The section of the blade is triangular and the section of the tang is rectangular. There are no visible decorations or marks. The tip of the blade has broken off.  Overall length is 214.26mm. Wrought iron plain double looped rectangular buckle  dating from AD 1570- 1700. The buckle has a rectangular frame with a recessed strap bar in the centre, and is concave in profile. Some of the iron pin appears to be corroded to the strap bar. Strap bar is broken.

An iron rowel spur of post medieval to modern date. The frame has straight, tapering arms with plano convex cross section. The terminals have been lost to corrosion. The rowel box is small relative to the frame, with an oval collar and narrow arms which terminal in rounded lobes drilled for an iron spindle, which retain an incomplete rowel. This was originally around 13mm in diameter, with eight narrow points.

A large "tongue-type" horseshoe of post medieval date (c. end of the 17th to the early 19th century), 156mm in length and 155 wide, probably for a large draught horse. The horseshole is slightly concave and fullered with seven nails on one side and at least five on the other, possibly with further nails going around the toe. The nail heads are subrectangular and convex. The shoe has no toe clip or calkins. The aperture is tongue shaped and around 53mm in maximum width.

An incomplete iron "tongue-type" horseshoe of post medieval date (c. end of the 17th to the early 19th century). The shoe has eight well defined square nailholes, inset within square punched holes and is not fullered. One hole retains a nail which has a rectangular head. The rear ends of the shoe appear to be missing, so it is not clear if any calkins were present. The front edge has worn away and is now angled.

A socketed wrought iron terminal from a musket accessory (scourer) used to clean out debris from the interior of the barrel of a musket. The object has a circular cross section with a conical socket which gently tapers into a long shaft, the final 40% of which has a rectangular cross section and is split into two flat prongs. These end at a head which has flared, folded semi circular tips, 13.4mm in diameter which are folded at 90ยบ to the shaft. The terminal would have fit onto the end of a wooden ramrod of 8.5mm diameter.

A fragment of a post Medieval cast iron cooking vessel. The fragment comprises a 99mm long section of body wall, with two parallel circumferencial ribs running around it, an a single leg, 47mm in length with circular cross section which tapers to a blunt point. The condition would suggest a relatively recent (18th to early 19th century) date, but the form essentially remained unchanged from the Medieval period so it may be earlier.

A pair of copper alloy plates with engraved decoration which are mounted on an iron fragment. The copper alloy plates are trapezoidal, flaring slightly from a flat edge to a wider rounded edge. Both feature engraved designs which are of uncertain form, probably floral or foliate. The iron is heavily corroded with old breaks or corrosion to all sides suggesting the plates were originally mounted on a larger iron object, perhaps a knife, dagger or sword blade. The total thickness of the object is around 5mm.

A badly corroded fragment of iron around 100m in length and 34mm in width, comprising an incomplete grip or strap handle from an early Medieval shield of 6th to 7th century AD date. The object is broken into two pieces. The grip comprises a flat piece of iron with a bifurcating terminal on one end with a pair of opposing looped lobes formed of curled tendrils of wrought iron, between which is a rivet fitting (second photo). One is of iron, 11.7mm in length and 0.86g, with J-shaped curved shank of sub-rectangular cross section and an irregular or tear-drop shape domed head 9.6mm in length. The other is copper alloy, 11.4mm in length and 0.86g with a tapering pointed shank with square cross section and curved tip and a round domed head of 7.4mm diameter. Both are potentially of Roman date.
