A fragment of an iron probable late medieval to early post-medieval scabbard chape. Only the lower end of the object survives. This is a cast, hollow flat triangular chape with a jagged break around its upper edge and a flattened globular terminal projecting from its lower end. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded. Scabbard chapes are more commonly made from sheet metal, but cast examples in copper alloy and iron are known. Compare PAS records: PUBLIC-03A532, LON-0444D0 and WMID-C808A3. A Medieval Iron axehead, dating to c.AD 1000 - 1500.  The axehead has a triangular or 'wedge'- shaped blade with a slight curve to the cutting edge; it projects downwards more than it projects upwards from the central body of the axe. The socket is filled with corrosion but is triangular in shape with a triangular wing surviving on one side, extending downwards.  When viewed from the rear, the butt of the axe appears rectangular. An incomplete whittle tang iron knife, dating to the medieval period, c. 13th-14th century AD. The knife has a triangular shape, with whittle tang central on blade and a straight shoulder.
