An Early Medieval to Medieval copper alloy mount, probably a book, casket or strap fitting, dating to c. AD 1000-1200. The fitting consists of a short sub-trapezoidal sectioned bar of copper alloy truncated by a very worn break at one end and expanding outwards into a trapezoidal plate at the other. This trapezoidal plate similarly terminates in a worn break, in profile there is a transverse convex 'lip' immediatley preceding this break, suggesting the original presence of a deliberately expanded fold. A small assemblage of four Roman ceramic sherds, representing at least one vessel, but probably more, probably dating to c. AD 250-410. The assemblage comprises of four sherds (3 body, 1 rim) of Black Burnished Ware pottery (BB1). All sherds are of a coarse grained fabric, reduced grey-black throughout and containing abundant sub-angular quartz inclusions with infrequent small ferrous inclusions. A Medieval to Post-Medieval lead uniface sub-circular token of Powell's type 30, probably dating to c. AD 1250-1800. The design depicted on the decorated face is of six irregular pellets equidistantly arranged around a raised central pellet. Diameter 22.1mm; weight 4.44g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date.

A Medieval copper alloy 'locking buckle', dating to c. AD 1350-1600. Comprising of a double-looped, asymetrical rectangular buckle frame, with an off-centre expansion in profile, perforated to accomodate a separate copper alloy spindle. The outside edge of the larger loop is expanded, with a central groove forming a pin rest. The pin comprises of a cylindrical chape, through which the spindle is fed, with an integral triangular projection forming the pin. An incomplete late Iron Age or early Roman copper alloy Colchester brooch dating to AD 25 - 60. The spring, pin and majority of the catchplate have been lost. At the head of the bow two short wings project to the sides, both incomplete, a forward facing hook projects from the centre of the head, with a rectangular projection behind the head; the sprung pin has been lost. A Post-medieval copper alloy spur attachment fitting, probably dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The strap attachment end of the fitting consists of a sub-circular sectioned rivet, with a flattened, circular head acting as an integral rove. A plano-convex sectioned arm projects from from the other end of the rivet at a perpendicular angle, this curving in back on itself to form a rearward facing blunt hook. The spur measures 22.6mm in length. The rivet is 7mm in height and 9.2mm in diameter. The hook is 11.8mm in height and 2.8mm thick. The whole spur weighs 3.42 grams. Cf. similar examples…

A Medieval copper alloy buckle, probably dating to c. AD 1150-1500. The frame is sub-oval with an offset and narrowed bar and with a lip projecting from the exterior edge; a groove forming a pin rest. A cast copper alloy pin with slight flanged collar and plano-convex cross section survives. Length:14.5mm; Width 14.5mm; Thickness 4.9mm; Weight 1.33g. cf. Egan and Pritchard (1991: 42) nos. 279-283. Cassels (2013: 29 and fig. 2.4) 1.3D, dated to the mid-12th to 16th centuries.
