Description: Fragment is irregular shaped, with a sandy granular multi inclusion render and one flat painted surface, in this case white with a fleshy pale pink stripe. The colour on this piece is dififcult to pin down and maybe part of a figurative decorative motive, perhaps a leg or an arm bearing in mind we have white either side of the 'pink'. A fragment of wall plaster of probable Roman date (c. AD 43-410).
Description: The fragment is irregular shaped, with a sandy granular multi-inclusion render and one flat painted surface, in this case a defined area of dark red terracotta with a smaller area of lighter colour adjoining. The colour on this piece is difficult to pin down to any specific decorative object, maybe a figure with clothing. The flat painted surface is smooth with a sheen to it, but there are very fine lines, possibly brush marks when viewed in good light. The plaster or render is very pale, almost white…
