A cast copper alloy fragment most probably from a Saddle Pommel of post medieval date (AD 1500-1720). The fragment is sub-rectangular with a domed terminal and C shaped convex cross section. The upper face is decorated with a series of verticle lines which are contained within a incised double border that extends circumferentially around the lower edge. The fragment has a large crescent shaped removal on the lower edge that seems deliberate and then the lower edge is broken and incomplete. The fragment is a mid green colour with an uneven patina.

An incomplete copper alloy possible saddle pommel, of likely post-medieval dating (16th to 17th Centuries AD).
The object has a cylindrical shape, with a rounded top with a central knop, which gives it the appearance of an acorn, and it is hollow, with a wall thickness of 2.5mm. It flares a little towards the top, being 19.7mm in diameter at the base and 21.7mm at its widest.
The overall height is 39.2mm, but one half is 30.3mm high, and the other half has two extant perforations, one centrally positioned near the bottom edge and one on a small rounded projection at one side - t…

A Post Medieval, copper alloy saddle pommel.
The pommel consists of two parts, which were likely soldered together. They are both shaped similar but one half is slightly longer than the other. The two halves both have a semi-circular cross-section, are both "U" shaped, and both cut off diagonally at the top with one half having an attachment at the top. There is also a small knop in the centre of the dome, halved by the split.
The surface design is linear with four doubled lines travelling from the centre of the dome to the rim. There is another doubled line across the break edg…

Incomplete cast copper alloy one-piece decorative saddle pommel. Only two thirds of the pommel remain as the area where the rivet holes would have been has been sheared off, leaving half of one rivet hole on one edge and another half of a rivet hole on the apex of the pommel. Immediately below that incomplete rivet hole there is what appears to be the remains of another rivet which has caused the metal to break away around it. There may have been two other wings at either side with rivet holes in them; there is a fracture line on the more complete edge of the pommel measuring 19 mm wh…

The front has been decorated with incised lines, three lines running from top to bottom. Four holes are present in the front, arranged in a linear orientation. The back surface is plain and undecorated. The saddle pommel is hollow. The saddle pommel is a mid to light green c…

Post medieval copper alloy saddle pommel of 16th or 17th century date
The pommel is fragmentary, represented by one half of the original (with a length of 52.2m, a width / diameter of 52.7mm, a surviving depth of 12.4mm and a weight of 14.7g). The domed pommel has vertical ribbed decoration. One side of the pommel had a sub oval opening. The half pommel was attached using two circular holes, a smaller complete hole (of 3.8mm diameter) and half of a composite, larger hole (of 6.2mm diameter). The half pommel was soldered to the missing half and the interior is hollow to accommodat…
