An incomplete Medieval gilded copper alloy probable box or furniture mount.
The mount is irregular in shape. It consists of a bar, from which a neck extends up into an irregular scallop or pelta shaped terminal. The object is corroded, but has traces of gilding on both surfaces. The object also has areas of both light and dark green patina.
Length 42.7mm. Width 20.4mm. Thickness (max) 4.4mm. Weight 5.62g.

A post medieval lead box lid or furntiure fittting dating circa c.1700-1800. Now crushed and damaged it would have been approximately 42 mm square in plan with rounded corners and would have been quite shallow with a height of approximately 10 mm. The lid which would have been loose fitting is decorated with floral, leaf and scallop designs. The base is plain. Possibly a reliquary item.
