It is likely constructed from a fine-grained granite. The fragment is trapezoidal in plan. Possible flint piercer/arrowhead, of prehistoric dates. Due to its shape, and some retouching, it was likely earmarked to be a tool, but discarded pre-usage. The dark colour of the flint, and its workmanship suggest that it is likely of Neolithic origin. The flint is 90% of a white cloudy patina, and 10% of its surfaces showed signs of iron staining. This is a common occurence on the Land's End peninsula, where we regularly find flint scatters, representing extremely long periods of occupation. It looks to be a flint implement, but due to some retouching, may possibly have been used as a scraper. The dark colour of the flint, and its workmanship suggest that it is likely of Neolithic origin. You can see the cracking ripples on its ventral surface, as well as two patches of cortex, which suggests that it was originally a tertiary flake. It has a dark grey-black patina on 90% of its surface, and the remaining 10% cortex is of a mid white-brown colour. Dimensions: Longest length(from end to end), 34mm.
