A silver penny of Offa, King of Mercia from AD 757-796. This coin is categorised as North Group II, no. 288 (1980, p. 59). A close parallel is Fitzwilliam ref. 2003.0044. It was probably minted between AD c. 787 and AD c. 792. The coin is incomplete, bent and corroded. It measures 14mm in diameter, 0.6mm thick and weighs 1.03g.
