An Irish copper-alloy gunmoney shilling of James II (1685-1691), dating to August 1689 (Spink S6581C). Ref: Spink 2003: 169-70. Obverse shows a laureate head facing left. Obverse legend reads: IACOBVS. II. – DEI GRATIA. Reverse shows a crown over crossed two sceptres (similar to the imagery used on farthings of his father Charles I), XII above, ‘J’ to the left, ‘R’ to the right and ‘AUG’ below.
