A Post Medieval gold Quarter Angel of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603), dating AD 1581-3. North second issue no. 1993. Obverse depicts Saint Michael slaying a dragon. The inscription reads ELIZABETH D G ANG FRA[NC]IE. The reverse depicts a royal shield aboard a boat with the initial E to the left of the mast and a rose to the right. The inscription reads ET HIBERNIE REGINA FI[D]EI. The coin was minted at the Tower of London and the sword initial mark dates the coin to AD 1581-3. Dimensions: diameter: 17.17 mm; weight: 1.32g.
