A Post Medieval gold half-sovereign of Edward VI (AD 1547-1553), Second period issue dating AD 1549-1550. North no. 1908. The obverse depicts the bust of Edward VI, uncrowned facing right. The inscription reads SCVTVM FIDEI PROTEGET EIVM [May the shield of fidelity protect him]. The reverse has an oval garnsihed shield with the initials E and R either side. The insctiption reads EDWARD VI D G ANG FRA Z HIB REX. Minted at the Tower.
