The obverse inscription is R COMES FLANDRIE, and the reverse inscription is MOn ETA AEN TLO The coin weighs 1.26 grams and is 18.3mm in diameter.

An incomplete medieval silver sterling imitation penny issued by Robert of Béthune, Count of Flanders (1305-22), and struck at Alost (Mayhew 211-15, 217-9, probably M219). Ref: Mayhew 1983: 82-5. The mistruck shape of the face appears to be the same as Mayhew 219b and the reverse-barred N on the obverse and Lombardic n on the reverse seen on that coin is also seen here. The edge of the flan is missing between 4 and 8 o'clock on the obverse.
