A medieval silver penny of William FitzRobert, Earl of Gloucester (AD 1147-1183) dating to AD 1147-1148. As North (1980: 174) no. 945. Moneyer unknown, possibly of a new mint perhaps located at Sherbourne. The coin is well struck but chipped. With thanks to Dr Martin Allen (Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge) for discussing this coin and his help in its identification. It is also recorded on the Fitzwilliam Museum database as 2020.0280. Measurements: weight 0.9g
