A complete and worn copper alloy post-medieval farthing of James I (AD 1603-25), possibly a Lennox type issue dating from AD 1614-1625. This coin's initial mark appears to be a plain long cross which is not listed as an official mintmark for the copper-alloy farthings of James I or for Charles I. It is therefore possible this coin is a contemporary copy.
Official issues of these coins were punched in copper alloy strips then pressed out, rather than being made on single flans.
