A clipped and defaced post-medieval silver shilling of James I (1603-1625). First coinage (North 2072 or 2073). Initial mark: thistle, dating to 1603-1604. Mint of London (Tower). North (1975, 121).
It measures 28.17mm in diameter, 0.86mm in thickness and weighs 4.342g. It has been extremely worn, and furthermore bent and scratched, all presumably part of deliberate defacing.
