A silver shilling struck for James I in the period 1603-1604. It is a fragment of the coin and has also been burned leaving a significant portion of silver stuck to the surface and making much of the field and legend unintelligible. The coin is of James I's first coinage with a crowned bust right, although most of this detail is lost. The legend reads 'IACOBVS D[ ]'. The reverse field is completely incomprehensible but the legend reads '[ ]DEVS DI[ ]ENTVR INIM[ ]'. It is North 2072 or 2073. The diameter is 27.87mm, with the accretion making the coin 4.59mm thick and it weighs 4.08g.
