Silver hammered post-medieval shilling of James I, dating to AD 1603 - 1604. First coinage, thistle initial mark. Obverse of right-facing crowned bust with XII behind: IACOBVS D G ANG SCO FRA ET HIB REX. Reverse of square shield: EX VRGAT DEVS DISSIPEN[TVR I]NIMICI. The coin is 29.46mm in diameter, 0.98mm in thickness and weighs 5.96g. Spink (2004) no. 2646.
