A Post-Medieval gold double-crown of James I, AD 1603-1625.
The obverse shows a crowned bust right. The obverse initial mark is a crescent. The obverse legend reads IACOBVS.'D.'G.'MA.'BRI.'FRAN.'ET.'HIB.'REX. The reverse shows a royal shield surmounted by a crown. The reverse initial mark is a crescent (dating the coin to AD 1617-1618). The reverse legend reads HENRICVS.ROSAS.REGNA.IACOBVS. Die axis is either 7 or 8 o'clock.
This coin was found in a bent condition. The flan was bent inwards to an angle of approximately 90 degrees on the obverse side of the flan. The finder has h…

A gold Half Laurel of James I c. 1603 - 1625 AD. Third coinage, laureate & armoured bust left, with 'X' behind head. The reverse has the crowned arms quartered by long cross fourchee. The coin is in fair condition with some modest fritting to the rim and probable light clipping. The mintmark is probably a trefoil.
