A worn post-medieval hammered silver groat of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603) dating to 1560-1. North 1986. Probably London mint.
Obverse: Crowned bust left. Legend: ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HIB REGINA Reverse: Long cross fourcée over shield. Legend: POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV
The coin is worn, but the obverse appears to be deliberately defaced, with a hatching of deep scratches over the bust.

An incomplete silver Post Medieval coin, probably a groat of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), dating to AD 1558-1561.
Ref: North (1991: 133, no 1986)
Both faces are virtually blank and/or illegible except for 'GI' on the obverse and 'V' on the reverse. There are also the faint remains of the long cross fourcée over shield. The remaining visible legend and reverse description indicate that this is a groat of Elizabeth I.
Measurements: Diameter, 20.66mm; Thickness, 0.42mm; Weight, 0.82g

Complete Silver Groat of Elizabeth I dating to 1559-1560. Mintmark not visible (althought p robably Lis). Mint of London. here is a wire line inside the beaded border between the field and the legend on both faces. Obverse features bust of Elizabath 1 facing west withour Rose, Legend around ELIZABETH DG AN.FR.D REGINA. Reverse has a square shield on long cross fourchee, no date, legend around POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV. The coin weighs 1.6g and is 22.92mm in diameter.

A silver Post Medieval coin, possibly a groat or Sixpence of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603). The diameter of the coin suggests it is either a clipped groat or a clipped sixpence. Both sides of the coin are very worn with very little detail remaining. The legend is not visible. The obverse depicts a bust facing left and the reverse depicts a shield with long cross fourchee. The coin has been pierced at approximately 1 o'clock on the obverse.
