An incomplete post-medieval silver shilling of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603). The Obverse has been excessively polished, no details can be seen except an IZ of the inscription. The reverse is also polished, but not to such an extreme. The coin is broken, with approximately 15 % of the flan missing. In a raking light, a crease can be seen across the flan, opposite to the break. It is possible that the coin was bent on two edges and has been straightened, resulting in the break. The edges of the break are sharp, and the coin appears unusually thin. (0.3 mm) Diameter 20 mm, weight 6.9 g
