An incomplete post-medieval silver shilling of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603). The Obverse has been excessively polished, no details can be seen except an IZ of the inscription. The reverse is also polished, but not to such an extreme.  The coin is broken, with approximately  15 % of the flan missing. In a raking light, a crease can be seen across the flan, opposite to the break. It is possible that the coin was bent on two edges and has been straightened, resulting in the break. Reverse legend reads :POSVI/DE'AD/IVTORE/M.MEV.' with initial mark 2 . The initial mark '2' is dated to the sixth issue, AD 1601-1602. Die axis is 11 o'clock. This coin is slightly bent in two opposing directions and could possibly be described as having an angular 'S' shaped profile to the flan.
