A very worn complete copper-allow post medieval forgery or contemporary copy of a silver shilling of Elizabeth I, AD 1558 - 1603. Initial mark illegible. Copying London mint.  It would have originally been washed in silver, to hide the now visible copper core.  The weight of the coin is a further indicator that it is counterfeit, as half-crowns of this period should weigh between 14.4-14.6g, whilst this coin is only 9.55g, significantly under weight even allowing for clipping and wear.
