An incomplete and very worn silver base penny from the third period (AD1550 - 1553) of the reign of Edward VI. The obverse shows the Tudor Rose, the reverse depicts a long cross fourchee over a royal shield. North 1942. Close to one edge is a perforation c1.5mm in diameter, perhaps so that it could be worn as a pendant. It is 14.55mm in diameter and weighs 0.39g.

A Post Medieval silver penny of Edward VI (AD1547-1553) or Mary and Philip (AD 1554-1558), dating AD 1550-8. The obverse depicts a double rose, the inscription reads either [---] ROSA S[INE SPINA]. The first letters could be either EDG, for Edward VI, MDG for Mary or PZMDG for Philip and Mary. Due to the condition of the coin it is impossible to say. The reverse depicts a long cross fourchee over the royal shield. The inscription reads [C]IVI / TAS / LON / D[ON]. The coin has been clipped and worn so that parts of the inscription are illegible. North (1975) no. 1942, 1963 or 1975. …
