A complete, pierced medieval silver shilling of Edward VI (AD 1547-1553) dating to the third period, 1551-3. I.m Tun. London mint. North (1991:123) no. 1937. In addition to a complete perforation, the coin has a small incomplete, piercing made on the obverse and visible on the reverse. The reverse has crossed etchings in two of the quarters as well as two almost parallel lines. A silver medieval shilling of Edward VI (AD 1547-1553) dating to the third period, 1551-3. Tun initial mark, mint of London. North 1991, volume II, page 123, number 1937. On the reverse of the coin above the shield the letters 'i H' have been inscribed. There are scratch marks across the bust of the obverse. In the second quarter on the reverse there is a circular silver rivet that has pierced through the coin, cutting through the inscription. It pierces through at the U or M of DEUM.

The coin has been counter stamped with the letters E and P so probably the coin was re-used as a love token. The diameter is 32mm and the weight 5.65g.
