An extremely worn, incomplete, Post Medieval copper alloy contemporary copy of a shilling of Edward VI (AD 1547-1553). Second coinage and dating AD 1549-1551. Uncertain mint and initial mark. Sections of the outside edge of the flan are missing. See North (1991) Vol.2 pg.101 No.1917. This is a copper alloy core which has been silver coated. Other examples on the database include PAS record IDs: LON-79DAB7, SWYOR-C5F685, GLO-57DD11 and BH-8275B8. Diameter: 27.73mm. Thickness: 1.01mm. Weight: 3.39g. Die axis: 1.

A fragment of a silver post-medieval shilling of Edward VI (1547-1553), unclear mint, 1549-1550 (North 1918/1-1925). Two segments have been removed from the coin leaving a roughly triangular piece, which encompasses most of the central area of the coin along with part of the inscribed edge. The coin appears to have then been rolled up, but a recent break has caused the last segment to separate from the rest of the coin, leaving it in two pieces. The cutting and rolling were deliberate and may have been an attempt to mutilate the coin. Edward VI's reign was marked by social unrest…

Post Medieval silver hammered coin of Edward VI of the second period (80 grain issue). Dates to between 1549 and 1550 AD. The total length is 26mm, width 14mm, and the weight 0.82g. The coin has been largely lost, the two remaining fragments measuring 11.5mm x 8mm and 14mm x 14mm. Obverse inscription is [EDWARD VI] D G AGL [FRA Z HIB REX] and the reverse inscription is [TIMOR DOMINI FONS VITE....].
