A gold quarter noble of Edward III (1327-1377) dated to the pre-treaty period AD 1351-61. A more precise identification cannot be achieved due to the wear and condition of the coin. The external edge of the flan is feathered and the edge is folded. A pentangular shaped hole is present through the centre of the coin. The edges are slightly clipped. The coin is slightly chipped around parts of the edge and is lightly clipped removing the tops of some lettering and creates an irreularly shaped edge to parts of the coin. The reverse includes an odd spelling, reading EXALTABITVR IN GALhORI instead of the standard EXALTABITVR IN GLORIA, a rarely seen variation (Potter 1963: 128).
