Silver cut half of a voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272), Long Cross Coinage (1247-1272), Class IIa (1248), moneyer Nicole, Canterbury mint. The coin is cut diagonally from 11 o'clock to 5 o'clock, showing most of the crown and two large curls at the right side of the head. The crown has three pearls across the forehead, underneath a thick band, and the fleur-de-lis in the centre of the crown is reduced to two round pellets on either side of a larger pellet, each connected by a short arm. A silver voided long cross cut halfpenny of Henry III (r. 1216-1272AD). Voided long cross coinage (1247-1279AD), Obverse Class 2a/North 985/1 (1248AD). Minted at Canterbury by Gilbert. Cut is ragged and appears more likely to have been flexed than cut. Detail is sharp.
Measurements: 17.60mm long (original diameter), 8.34mm wide, 0.96mm thick and 0.54g in weight.
