An incomplete silver cut and folded half penny of John of England (AD 1199 to AD 1216), dating to the period AD 1215 to AD 1217. Minted by Moneyer Walter at Canterbury. Class 6c. C.f. North vol 1, p222, no 976/1. Coin has been folded in half, reverse outwards. One half has been lost, the break is patinated. Diameter: 18.0 mm Thickness: 1.3 mm Weight: 0.7 g

A silver Medieval coin; a short cross penny of John (AD 1199 - 1216) or Henry III (AD 1216 - 1272), Class 6c-d dating from about AD 1215 - 1217. It was minted at Canterbury by Samuel. It is 19.5mm diameter, 0.6mm thick and 1.5g. Compare North number 975/2 - 977 on page 222 (North, 1994, English Hammered Coinage Volume 1).
