A hammered silver short cross cut halfpenny of either Henry II (1154-89) or John (1199-1216). The obverse has the crowned bust facing with a sceptre in the right hand. The reverse has the voided short cross with a quatrefoil to each angle. The uncertainty of ruler is due to the moneyer RAV - most probably Rauf and the mint of London, which both Henry II and John have types. The balance of probability goes to John and type 6b.
