A hammered silver short cross penny, probably of King John. The obverse side is struck in the name of Henry II and has a very crude bust. The reverse has a voided short cross with quatrefoils in each quadrant with the moneyer as Ilger of London. The coin is struck off centre. It is similar to the class 6a coinage of King John (1199 - 1216) in Seaby (pp145-7).

Silver cut half penny of John, probably Class 5b -6a, Mint Chichester, moneyer unknown. 1204/5-1217. The dating of this coin is based on the style of the closed E on the obverse, with a very long central bar (fig. 10 North) , and the closed C with an ornate closure (fig 27). The form of these letters are used during class 6 although the use of the closed E is only recorded in Class 6a. However, the mint at Chichester is only open during the period of Class 5b (1204/5 - 1209).

A Medieval coin; a cut half shortcross penny of John (AD 1199 - 1216), probably class 6a dating from AD 1210 - 1213. It was struck by Abel at the mint of London. One corner of the coin is missing. It is 17mm long, 9.4mm wide and 1mm thick. 0.55g. North number 974 on page 222 of Volume 1 (1994).
