No exact match could be found for this coin, which is tentatively identified as a Gallo-Belgic BA2/BB2, Defaced Die type (Van Arsdell nos. 35-1 and 37-1), for which a date of 125 BC t o100 BC is suggested. The irregular flan measures 13.3mm in diameter, 1.5mm thick amd weighs 1.42g.

A well preserved and barely worn gold Iron Age stater of British early uninscribed type I, dating from the early to mid first century BC. The coin depicts a stylised head of Apollo on the obverse and a horse facing left with wheel behind on the reverse (see Hobbs 1996, Plate 9, numbers 193-200 for similar). Type I uninscribed coins tend to have a North Eastern distribution, although they are known to have circulated in the midlands (Hobbs 1996, 14). The coin measures 18.36 mm in diameter, is 2.76 mm thick and weighs 6.0 grams.
