The obverse is most similar to Rudd's ABC 2116, the 'Facing Horses' type of the East Wiltshire tribe (dating c.50-35 BC)while the reverse is most similar to the 'Abingdon Zoo' and 'Abingdon Head' types of Rudd's Berkshire tribe (dating c.55-40 BC; ABC 1004 and 1007). An Iron Age uninscribed bronze unit of 'Chichester Cock' type (cf. ABC 737; BMC 657-59), measuring 18.27x16.35mm and weighing 1.81g. It is slightly dished from the reverse although the coin is now rather flat. The coin is worn, rather more on the obverse. The obverse depicts a helmeted head right; the reverse depicts a small bearded head right surmounted by a cock holding a snake (possibly) in its beak. Date: c. 60-20 BC.
