Silver strap-end with incised 'vine-scroll' interlace motifs, interwoven with harps and set around a centrally placed equal-arm cross with circular terminals. There are traces of niello, and of further decoration at the break, where the split attachment would have had two circular rivet holes (missing). The strap-end terminates in a stylised animal head with large rounded ears and small circular eyes, with incised lines on brow and to represent snout/mouth. The back is plain, apart from the suggestion of a single incised line border beneath the terminal head. The strap-end reflects…

The reported object is an annular brooch. The silver frame is of circular cross-section, and slightly distorted. One face is decorated with four groups of diagonally-set incised lines inlaid; the other face has transverse lines around 50% of the frame, and pairs of parallel lines set herringbone pattern fashion for the other half. There are traces of black niello within the incised lines. The two sides of the wrap-around head overlap at the top, and the head swivels freely on the frame. The pin shaft is of diamond cross-section, each facet being decorated with wriggle-work zig-zag lin…

Middle Saxon to Late Saxon copper alloy strap end with two rivet holes at the split end and niello with silver wire inlay, complete except for the loss of much inlay but bent transversely. The other two, now largely empty, are kite-shaped and topped by scrolls at both corners. All three are flanked by a pair of sub-triangular sunken and V-sectioned moulded depressions. The surface of the creatures has been very finely pecked. The design is very close to that of a number of other examples with provenances in Lincolnshire and further north, Thomas Group A1avii (ibid.,…
