An Early Medieval stirrup strap mount (Williams Class a, type 8) dating to the 11th century. A cast copper alloy, sub-triangular mount. It has three attachment holes, one set below the apex and the other two at the base, above the right-angle flange.The lower two holes retain the corroded traces of iron fixings. A cast copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount of late Anglo-Saxon date (c. 11th century AD). The mount is sub-pentagonal in form, characteristic of a Williams Class A, Type 1 mount (1997, 26ff.; see fig. 19). It has a trefoil apex loop with small side knobs; its hole is notably large. Cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams Class A, with decorative silver wire and niello inlay of Anglo-Scandinavian inspiration. The mount is very worn and the inlay only survives in patches. Below the apex rivet is a pendent lobe, while at the base a union knot probably links a pair of opposed spirals which are utilised by the pair of rivet holes. Centrally is a knot within a wide ribbon-like strip which may be the body of a snake-like beast whose head is otherwise worn away. A copper alloy probable stirrup-strap mount dating from the 11th century. The bottom part of the mount is missing, and it is this end which has the defining features of a stirrup-strap mount, so it's identification is uncertain. It is a triangular object with a worn zoomorphic animal head terminal at the apex. There is a rivet hole beneath this, and then the plate is decorated with niello. A copper alloy stirrup mount in an Anglo-Scandinavian style, Williams Class A, type 5. It has a subtriangular shape with a drilled hole in the base and at the apex. Traces of niello remain on the surface, though the design is difficult to interpret due to the degree of corrosion, which extends accross the surface of the object. A worn and corroded Early Medieval cast copper alloy stirrup mount, c. 1025-1100 AD. The mount has an overall symmetrical tongue shape. There is an integral loop at the top; at approximately the centre of the mount is a pair of off-centred lobes. The inlaid design is crude and appears to represent knot work motifs. There is a transverse step/ledge across base.
