A fragment of late Medieval to Post-Medieval copper alloy purse frame dating to c. AD 1450-1550. The fragment consists of part of the arm and survives for 60.2mm in length to old and worn breaks at both ends. It is a copper alloy sheet L-shaped in cross section and has a suspension hole on one side, at 11.4mm from the broken end. The opposite end is distorted as the fragment bent at 100 degree angle and become flatter and wider in section. The bar survives for 49.3mm in length to an old break at the junction with the central block, presumably before an animal head junction. On the other side it ends with a conical terminals. An unusually large and decorative medieval silver annular brooch complete with pin and decorated with incised lines, inlaid niello and an inscription. The brooch is circular in cross section and, while weighty, the weight suggests it is hollow. There is a constriction at one point where the pin head is looped and corresponding slight wear on the opposite side of the ring, on the front where the pin point rests. Half of a Medieval copper-alloy purse bar probably dating to c. AD 1450-1500. The artefact consists of one arm and the central boss of the purse bar. The central boss is cylindrical being 11.4mm with a diameter of 14.7mm. A central longitudinal hole with a diameter of 6.0mm passes through the centre of boss to accommodate a copper alloy swivel, now lost. Projecting from one side of the boss is one arm of the purse bar, the other arm being lost to a very worn break at the boss' edge. An early-medieval cast copper alloy strap-end, classified as Thomas's (2003, 2) Class A, Type 2. This would date the artefact to around the 9th century AD. The strap-end is flat in profile and sub rectangular with slightly convex sides and squared off zoomorphic terminal. An extremely small Roman copper alloy sprung knee brooch, probably dating to c. AD 150-250 with possible silver or niello inlay.
