Description: Complete gold mourning (memento mori) finger ring probably dating from AD 1680. The ring has a D-shaped section with flat interior and convex exterior face. The interior has an inscription reading ‘Prepare to follow me LH 80’ in italic script. The exterior face has the incised image of a skull, missing the top of the head and the lower row of teeth and chin, emphasised with black niello inlay which is missing in places. An incomplete copper-alloy Thomas class A1 strap end of the later Early Medieval period, c. AD 800-1100. The strap end has an incomplete split end with only the base of each of the split sheets remaining. The terminal is very worn, but has the mousehead form, with a distinct projecting muzzle with eyes, brow and ears remaining only in shape and not detail. Decoration appears to be cast integral. A cast copper-alloy Thomas type A1 strap end of the later Early Medieval period, c. 800-1100. The strap end is complete, triangular in plan view with a split end bearing two circular rivets, with the possibility of leather or textile survival inside the split end. A copper alloy mourning finger ring of the Georgian period (1775). The ring has a simple hoop (diam. 11.2mm) with a flat outer face (width 1.9mm) bearing an inscription, and an oval bezel (diam. 2.9mm)set with glass. Under the glass stone, is human hair. The inscription reads: ANN. STUART OB:11 OCT:1775 AE (ligated): 35 There is niello on the hoop to contrast the letters of the inscription.

A copper alloy ninth century strap end, probably of Thomas's Class A, Type 2. The strap end is flat and tongue shaped tapering to a rounded terminal. At the attachment end, the plate splits in two to accomodate the strap. The attachment plates are damaged. The upper surface of the strap end is decorated with an incised interlace pattern. The incisions appear to be filled with degraded niello. The underside of the strap end is plain. The strap end has a dark green patina with patches of orange. The strap end has a length of 40mm and a maximum width of 13mm.

A copper-alloy and iron pin dating to the Roman period. The pin possesses a plain circular-section stem which tapers slightly at one end to a form a point; about two thirds of the way up the stem, it is decorated with two circumferential grooves followed by diagonal rib-and-groove decoration which extends as far the head. The remains of an inlaid black material, possibly niello is visible in some of the diagonal grooves.
