An incomplete Silver strap end of Early medieval date c. 800-900 AD. This object is Thomas Class A type 1 is decorated in the Trewhiddle style. The strap end is a long oval shape with slightly convex sides, narrowing to the zoomorphic terminal. The attachment end is broken off. This fragment is part of one arm of the bar and probably projected from the jaws of a zoomorphic moulding.The main body is circular in cross-section and has a diameter of 8.0mm. This fragment is part of one arm which has a globular wrythen terminal. The arm is oval in cross-section and the terminal has six grooves which spiral slightly.
The object is green and corroded with patches of a dark green patina. The grooves have traces of lacquer or decayed niello.

The central block is sub-rectangular in plan and cross-section. It is perforated vertically at the centre to accommodate the shaft of a suspension loop. The sides of the perforation are parallel. The front and back of the central block is decorated with a low relief grooves forming oblique lines and saltires. The grooves contain decayed niello. At each end of the central block there is a short arm with a recess for a frame. The arms terminate with a separate domed rove.

This object, cast in one piece is roughly 'U'-shaped in plan. At one end it has a rectangular loop, 41.0mm in length, 11.4mm in width and 6.9mm in thickness. Description: Footplate and part of bow from a small square-headed (also called a Kentish square-headed brooch) made from partly gilded silver, broken and repaired in antiquity.
The footplate is roughly cross-shaped, with the lower arm rounded and the two side arms slightly more angular. It has decoration of a central broad flat-topped cross-shaped band. This is decorated with a cast zig-zag of reserved silver, with niello inlay filling the triangles to either side. A fragment of a Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy purse frame (c. 1450-c. 1525).
This small portion of frame is 'L'-shaped in cross-section and curved in side profile. One outer face is decorated with double zigzag grooves. There are two small flecks of niello surviving in the grooves. The other outer face is plain and has minor file marks.
The outer faces have a shiny mid to dark green patina with scratch marks that are also patinated. There are patinated file marks on the decorated face. The inner face has a slightly darker coarse and pitted patina. Each break is old.
