An incomplete copper alloy button and loop fastener of Roman date, c. AD 50 - 200. The head is a pointed ovate ring with an integral raised circular boss within to one side. A shank extends straight down from the reverse of the boss and bends at 90 degrees before terminating in a worn break. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The button and loop fastener is 21.5mm long, 12.7mm wide, 3.2mm thick and weighs 4.2g. Button and loop fasteners such as this are of Wild's type Va and date to the late 1st to 2nd century AD.
