Incomplete silver-plated copper alloy watch key or winder with a sub-rectangular frame between the winding shaft below and the finial above which would have had a hole for the wire suspension loop, now missing, to pass through. The frame of the key is waisted with bifid sides with a central triangular knop, and an oval aperture within. The surface of the frame is worn but the edges still retain some of the decoration in the form of cross-hatching beyond an oval border. The winding shaft has several collars with two slight ridges on each side, and the finial is also waisted below where…

A copper alloy vessel leg, probably from an ewer, dating from the late medieval or early post medieval period. The leg is 54.1mm long, 31.1mm wide and 18.9mm thick. It is semi-circular in section and the front is fluted. The foot turns outwards and is semi-circular with a flat base. Slight traces of silvering or tinning survive, indicating that the leg was from a decorative vessel rather than a cooking pot. Parallels of ewers with three legs can be seen in the Finds Research Group Datasheet 7; Bronze Aquamaniles and Ewers (1987) by J M Lewis. They date from the fourteenth and fifteenth…

The rear or inside of the escutcheon has a rectangular plate (44.54 x 46.6mm) with a trapezoidal knop at the base (14.2mm long and 13.92mm wide). There are three perforations (of 3mm diameter) at the base of the escutcheon, two at the corners and one irregularly placed within the knop. A Late Iron Age to Early Roman cast copper-alloy zoomorphic vessel mount in the form of a bovine head, probably a bull (c. 100 BC-c. AD 100).
This three dimensional object has pronounced and well defined features. The head is roughly triangular and oval in cross-section. The horns slope backwards and are circular in cross-section with rounded tips. At the back of the head a flat area is incised to form oblique grooves and these carry forwards on to front to form a fringe between the horns. An unusual, incomplete artefact cast in copper-alloy of medieval date (c. 11th-12th century AD). It consists of a creature, possibly a bear (L. 22mm, W. 7.3mm), gripping a facing bird. The bird sits on a platform, perhaps formed of the creature's legs, broadly perpendicular to the creature's body. This has broken just beyond the bird revealing a trapezoidal cross-section with rounded corners. The back of the creature curves gradually, bifurcating just beyond this platform. One branch is vestigial and very thin compared to the other. This latter is c. 28mm long with a circular cro…

Cast copper-alloy fragment of an unidentified object, probably dating from the medieval or early post-medieval periods. Length: 22mm; width: 35mm; thickness: 4mm; mass: 7.4g. The fragment consists of two complete conjoined discs with the broken remains of a third above and a broken edge below. To either side of the incomplete disc, there are broken projections, one of which is barely visible, and in the other there is a circular recess - probably a setting for a small stone/pellet. The discs are concave on the front and decorated with incised designs resembling fleur-de-lys. There…

A silvered cast copper alloy unidentified object. The object has a flat circular 'bezel' with a shank extending from one side. The shank is rectangular in cross-section and in plan. The shank is bent under the bezel and raised at the other side as if it was going to rejoin the bezel to form a finger ring, though this might just be fortuitous damage. The 'bezel' has been silvered.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy object. it has a small shaft with a circular cross-section, and a flared sub triangular terminal with a D-shaped cross-section. The surface of the object is very pitted and damaged, however there are some remnant's of silvering. There is one small circular hole at the point where the shaft starts to flare into the terminal end. The break in the shaft is old as it has worn. This item could possibly be a handle for a Post medieval spoon, although no parallels have been found.

Cast copper alloy unidentified object. The object has a worn and probably incomplete split terminal that appears to have some iron corrosion between it. A 'C' shaped section of frame curves off the back of the split terminal. This area looks slightly irregular though just before the break on one arm there is a faceted area that may represent an animal biting onto the frame. The object has been silvered or tinned and might be a buckle.
