Tinned cast cu-alloy button dating from the post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1600-1800. The button is very sturdy with a central knop on the obverse and two very much off-centre rings surrounding the central knop. It was machine-made and decorated and probably had a thin metal wire for attachment on the reverse. This wire is now missing.

Silver-plated cast cu-alloy button dating from the early modern period, i.e. 1700-1900. It depicts a dragon with sword fighting lobstera lobster and is inscribed PRIUS FRANGITUR QUAM FLECTITUR. The motto is that of the Dykes family (i.e. FRETCHEVILLE LAWSON BALLANTINE-DYKES, Dovenby Hall, co. Cumberland, England).
