Remains of a silvered, cast copper alloy, Middle Saxon, strap end probably of Thomas' Class A1, with Trewhiddle style decoration, now obscured by wear/corrosion. The upper section of the strap end with the bifurcation is truncated and, owing to to the objects fragile state, it has been backed with resin making the determination of its mass difficult. On the terminal are two eyes separated by a narrow bar, a transverse bar and a broad groove separates them from the nose which is marked by a longitudinal notch.
